πŸ“Έ Mom's Photo Checker

Take a photo in the thrift store, tell it what the tag says, and it checks if it's on your list.

How this works β€” honestly

This page does not magically recognise a brand from the photo alone β€” there is no AI looking at your picture, and your photo is never uploaded anywhere. It stays on your phone.

What it does: you take the photo, then tap the type and type the brand or words you can see on the tag. It instantly matches those words against the 616-item thrift list and shows you the matching card, what to pay, and what it sells for. For a hard one, send the photo to Steven / Ab β€” see the bottom of this page.

1 Take a photo

Your photo

Tip: photograph the tag or label too β€” the brand and model number are what make the match work.

2 What type is it?

Tap one β€” or "Not sure".

3 What does the tag or label say?

Type the brand, or any words / numbers on the tag. Example: Levi's 501, Coach, TI-84, Pyrex Butterprint, 925.

It also checks live as you type β€” the button is just to be sure.

πŸ” Still not sure?

Google Lens: open Google Lens, tap the photo icon, and upload the same photo you just took. Lens will show you what it looks like on the web.

eBay camera search: in the eBay app, tap the camera icon in the search bar and take a photo of the item β€” eBay will show you similar sold listings.

Either way, always check Sold Items in the eBay app (not active listings), and only buy if the thrift price is about a third or less of the sold price.

πŸ’¬ Ask Ab β€” for the hard ones

For a hard one, send this same photo to Steven / Ab in chat and Ab can look at it and tell you.

  1. Tap β€œSave this photo to send to Ab” above (or screenshot this page).
  2. Tap β€œCopy what I typed” below β€” it copies the type and brand you entered.
  3. Send the photo + the copied words to Steven in chat, and Ab will check it.
